In response to Newt Gringich's victory in S.Carolina:
After both the S.Carolina debates I began to wonder if "Newt Gingrich could galvanize the social conservative bloc of the South Carolina electorate?" Despite his marital problems reemerging as an issue.
Take a look at the S.Carolina exit polls. Gringich beat Santorum 2:1 with "Evangelicals" and “born again” Christians. Gringrich has wide margins over Santorum in other “social conservative” categories as well. Santorum trumped Gingrich only on the issues of “Abortion” and “Strong moral character”. Appears that in S.Carolina Gingrich carried the “social conservative” vote and by a wide margin.
Unless these exit polls are similar to 2004 exit polls, the answer to my question is YES.
Romney is still 74% favorite to get the Republican Nomination on Intrade. Even with the set back in S.Carolina I still feel Mitt Romney has the easiest road of the candidates to get the nomination.
